I could hear him. He was in the kitchen somewhere. Was he in the cupboard? No. Was he on a chair? No. Was he under the sink? No. I knew he was there somewhere.
I hunted high and low, and then I found him . . .
Snug as a bug in a rug! As you can see, his ear is healing nicely, although the dissolving stitches seem to be taking their time as it's over three weeks since his operation now.
Yesterday was cool, wet and miserable. I made a lovely Cottage Loaf and some Spicy Bean soup. Today we are back to hot sunshine, so I had better freeze the rest of that soup . . .
Spicy Bean Soup
1 onion, chopped and fried gently in a little olive oil.
Cut 3 rashers bacon into small pieces and add to pan and fry gently.
Add a tin of chopped tomatoes, whatever vegetables you have about the place and a pint of stock (I used a good veggie stock cube and a heaped teaspoon of veggie Bouillon). Shake of salt and pepper and then add a tin of spicy mixed beans. I also added a good slosh of my home-made brown sauce. Simmer until veg cooked and then add a handful or two of pasta and cook till pasta done. YUMMY. You can stick a spoon upright in this soup!
The cottage loaf was 1lb of seeded wholewheat flour and 1/2 lb strong white mix. As my daughter said, one slice of that sees you through till lunchtime . . .

That soup sounds SO GOOD--maybe a bit combustable as well? There is nothing like home made soup and bread for rib-sticking comfort on a chilly day.
What happened to the kitty's ear? Did I miss that? Cats are so clever about hidey-holes.
Snowy melted my heart, so cute and cuddled up :) and the soup made me HUNGRY! I'm off to eat! ~ER~
Cancer I'm afraid, so it had to be amputated. He is on borrowed time as it looks like he may have feline leukemia too - no symptoms yet just permanent sinus problems (sniffly) which only clears up when he's on anti-biotics, as he was for his ear and after the operation. I guess he may well have given it all my other cats too, through shared feed bowls. Any damage has been done as he's been with us two years now.
That soup is SO tasty and is a real winter warmer when it's bitter outside.
I am so very truly sorry about Snowy and especially if feline leukemia has entered the ranks. We had a go around with that in our cat population some years ago--very upsetting. I took all the cats for the expensive testing and two of my darlings were positive. All had been inoculated against it and we were fortunate that some never did become infected. I'm such a cat lover and the ones on "borrowed time" always break my heart.
Sorry to hear that Snowy may have passed his germs on to the others. That was always a great fear of mine with Ainsel, but his tests were negative, thankfully. I hope it's not as bad as you fear.
The soup looks so hearty and filling :) I'll have to give it a go.

ps, I deleted that post, as it seemed a bit over the top!
What a sweet kittey. He almost distracted me from that yummy soup... *almost*;)
You know what I think you need? A little black kitten... he'd be the pepper to your salt there♥
Oh, and since I notice these things, I wanted to let you know that your word verification is "upetsy"... perhaps your pet is getting a bit uppity? hehehe
Awwwwwwwwww bless!
