Family History - Bolts of Hennock

Great excitement in the BB household as a "relly" has made contact, we share the same g.g.grandparents. dunigaj1 - could you please leave a comment with an e-mail addy (I won't publish the comment so you will have anonimity).

My husband and I have awarded ourselves a day off. Well, we have to collect a beautiful elm chest from Crickhowell. My husband fell in love with it at the Antiques Fair on Saturday at Builth, and it was a good price, so that's his birthday and Christmas present all in one.

Teatime now and I lost the connection this morning so couldn't post this. We have had a WONDERFUL day out and I will write it up tomorrow. I must have taken about a hundred photos . . .

I can imagine how you feel at finding a new relative and one that can talk and tell you stuff rather than just a name in a Parish Register. Lucky you!

An elm chest - please post photos when you can - it sounds lovely.

Connecting with others in a family line is very rewarding. Most any of us who are genealogy sleuths are happy to share bits and pieces of information. Some amazing old photos have come my way from "cousins" I've discovered.
Re the elm chest: as you likely know, elm trees disappeared in the 60's and 70's in the US--some sort of a disease. Hedgerow elms were considered a useable firewood when dry--never heard of them used for building or furniture. Wonder if we're talking about the same species[?]

Glad you were able to get the chest your husband wanted for a good price. Can't wait to see photos. I have really enjoyed your gardening pics!
